Christmas pt.2

Since we didn't see my side of the family for Christmas, my mom came to Charlotte on Saturday for us to celebrate Christmas together. My sister, Tamera, who currently lives in Turkey during the off season of the WNBA was in town for the occasion as well. This is the second time she has seen Gabby since she was born.

Christmas

This year was our first Christmas as parents!! Gabby got her first visit from Santa, first birthday party for Jesus, and Christmas at Paw-paw and Nana's house.  It was great to get another chance to spend time with the family.  We are so blessed!

Let's it snow!!

Here's some pics of our first snow of the year.  Gabby and I had to go to Wilmington for a contest she was in, but the snow lingered around long enough for me to get some shot of her experiencing her 1st snow!

New Adventures of Gabby...a quick update

Gabby has been crawling for a couple of weeks now, more like how a worm moves forward by going up and down and she inches her way along.  Tonight I discovered, she has it all figured out.  So far she is still moving a little slowly but I'm sure it is only a short amount of time before I can't keep up with her.  Along with crawling, she is able to pull herself up on her knees especially in her crib where I often find her looking over the railing waiting for someone to come rescue her.  Just a quick update.  Enjoy the video and pics!

6 month check-up

It just dawned on me that I didn't give an update on Gabby's 6th month check-up.  She weighed in at 15lbs and 26 inches long.  That puts her in the 25% for weight and 50 for height.  Her doctor, Michelle, says she is growing approprately based off her previous measurements.  Her wieght and lenght is growing gradually, which they like to see because it showes a trend of being less likely to obese than those who have rapid weight gain in a short about of time.
Here's some of Gabby developmental milestones:

  • Begins to speak single (hard) consonants, like "dada" (sorry mom!).
  • Rolls over both ways (front to back and back to front).
  • looks for a toy dropped out of sight.
  • Has no head lag when pulled to a sitting position.
  • Sits without support
  • Continues to grasp and mouth objects,
  • Shows displeasure with loss of a toy.
  • Is able to recognize each parent and begining to show some stranger anxiety.
  • Makes attempts to feed herself.
  • Smiles, laughs, squeals and begins to imitate sounds.
  • Can be content in a playpen for a while playing with one or two toys.
  • Can bear weight on his or her legs when held in a standing position (no, it will not make him or her bowlegged).
  • May be developing one or more teeth
  • Gnawing on EVERYTHING!!
  • Can get up on all fours and "crawls" on the floor like a worm
  • He mimics facial expression and sounds.
  • Turns his head toward a voice or a sound.
  • Recognizes and responds to his own name.
  • Is able to participate in a game of peekaboo.
  • Begins to babble
