8 weeks down....32 more to go!

Well 2 days until my 2nd Prenatal visit. At this visit I'm suppose to meet with an OB Nurse and I will finally get a precription for Pre-Natal vitamins and they will do blood work to run all kinds of test. THis is also the time we will discuss safe excercises, nutrition, heath, etc. It's crazy how going to the doctor once a year was a drag but going every 2 weeks its so exciting. So far my symptoms have not been that bad. I've had bad days in the past but not weeks at a time. Right now my boobs are increasing in size, I have foods that I can't stand to smell include the cooking of food, and on other days have the taste for certain foods. Usually stuff that is not really strong in taste or smell. Well I'm currently a day away from being 8 weeks preggo...2 months can you believe it! It's gone by fast but not sure if it's fast enough. I ready to do the nursery, buy furniture, clothes, everything....everything except lose sleep which I am definitely catching up on a lot lately. Sleep is probably my bestest friend right now. Did I mention I LOVE SLEEP!

Baby's First Gift

Our good family friend, Pam, came up for the weekend for the ALS walk in memory of Nanny Ann. Along with her coming to visit she also brought Ray and me our first baby's gift! It was so surprising, exciting, and fun all at the same time. I can't even imagine what it will be like as the pregnancy progresses. Thanks Pam! The one to the left is a sensory book with teether attached and things to entertain the baby. And on the right are Baby Einstein sensory blocks that are soft and have different sensory fabrics on each side of the cube. So Cute! Thanks soooooooooooo much Pam!

Belly Pics

Since they are already being requested although there's not much to show, here's my bloated belly. All the books tell you don't show until maybe around 4-6 months but some bloating may occur while you organs are moving around to make space for the growing uterus. What they don't tell you is how bloated BLOATED can be.

Peppermint...Newest best friend!

Tuesday, I was not having a good day at all. From the time I woke up this morning I felt sick. I tried to eat crackers but that did not make me feel any better and I didn't really have an appetite for anything. I just felt miserable. It also didn't help that I was at school, and had to be with my kids. Well I went next door to visit the other Pre-k classroom where an old schoolmate teaches in and told her how I was feeling. She suggested peppermints. She said her sister ate some much throughout her pregnancy that she doesn't like them anymore. I remember my sister in law Amy telling me to keep crackers, lollipops, or candy anywhere I will be, my desk, purse, car, etc. So I shot Ray an email at work telling him I wasn't feeling well and what my co-worker told me about the peppermint. About 10 mins after the sending the email, I was on my way to walk to the phone to call my M.I.L to see if she could drop off some peppermints for me. Before I could make it to the phone, Ray's good friend Philip walked through my door with a container of peppermint. WOW!! I immediately popped one in after thanking Philip a dozen times for bringing them. It did the job, peppermints are my new best friend. I thought it was especially SWEET of my hubby to get someone to drop off mints. This is one of the reasons I'm so in love with this man, he's soooooooooooooooooooo caring! I love you Ray and thanks again Phillip.

PS I now have a glass container full of peppermints on my desk, just in case you know!

Featuring Our Little Peanut!

Today we had our first ultrasound to see our little one. Ray and my mother in law was there to also witness this miracle from God. It was crazy to see this little spot on the screen that the lab tech called my baby. We even got to see the heart beat. He/she little heartbeat was beating at 116 bpm. She said anything over 100 at this stage is great. So we are expecting our little one between June 4-6, 2009. This is all so exciting. It feels good to finally confirm out little peanut on screen. Please continue to keep us in your prayer. We go back in a few weeks to hear the heartbeat!!

Pregnancy Days...

I just hit 5 weeks preggo this past Saturday! While it is exciting I am also starting to feel some of the side effects of being pregnant. The only two that are bothering me right now is spells of nausea and headaches. Tiredness is not a spell that's how I feel all day long. The one thing I enjoy about being tired is being able to fall asleep at the drop of the dime, but while that sounds great it not because when I'm at work all day with 15 students sleep is the last thing I can do. This is one of the reason I am writing this blog now. The lights are off, Nora Jones is playing and it's the perfect setting to SLEEP. Other than these few symptoms you wouldn't know I was pregnant. Of course it's too early too look pregnant and at times you don't feel pregnant cause there's nothing to feel. However the side effects remind me everyday "Hey Kia, You're Pregnant." Thank God no vomitting...I prayed for no vomitting, so I can deal with nausea. This Friday is a big day for us. Ray and I get to go get our first ultrasound...we will just be able to see an appleseed there but not much more. I will update you all after the visit and maybe post the 1st photo of our little seed.
