It's a. . . . .

If you haven't figured out already, we're expecting our 2nd child in 2012. Not too long after we told the family Baby Bristow #2 was on the way, my MIL came to me about doing a Gender Reveal party when we found of the sex of the baby.  This is a new trend on a way to reveal the sex of the baby. There are several ways you can go about it, just Google "Gender Reveal Party" and enjoy at the creativeness.  I will explain how we chose to do it. So here goes:  Instead of us waiting to find out the sex of the baby, on the day of the anatomy ultrasound, we let the Tech reveal the sex to us.  We asked her to also write the sex of the baby down on a piece of paper and sealed it in an envelope. I then gave the envelope to my MIL, who had already discussed plans with a local bakery.  The bakery was to bake a cake and on the inside of the cake, layer the corresponding icing color Blue=boy Pink=girl.  The day of the Reveal Party, my MIL prepared an elaborate dinner as well as the decor.  I might add that her decor was absolutely wonderful and don't know who could have done it any better. After dinner, it was time for dessert, Yes the infamous reveal cake.  Since Ray and I already knew the sex of the baby, we let the grandmothers cut the cake to reveal the sex to everyone else.  Watch below. . . . .

Trick or Treat....playing catch up!

I have to better at this blogging thing.  I enjoy keeping our family and friends apart of our lives through our blog, however I feel as though I run out of time during the day to consistently update.  I will do better.

As for Halloween, which ummm yea, was almost a month ago, Miss Gabby girl was a cute little bumble bee.  We did the usual, the entire family went to an event in my SIL's neighborhood the day before Halloween, and the day of Halloween we went trick or treating in her neighborhood as well.  Gabby really got into it this year and loved getting candy from each house.  She would walk up to the door and say, "Trick or Treat!"  It took her a few houses before she got down, but that's all it took.  By house 4 she knew what she had to do.  It was also cute watching her try to hold the candy in her hand.  We tried to get her to put in the bag, however, she insisted on holding it, UNTIL, she realized there was more candy waiting at the next house.  This was by far the best Halloween for me.  I reminisced about my childhood "trick or treating" but, it was a greater treat watching my first born enjoy the innocence of meeting neighbors and getting treats!
